Warning: cassette probes are sharp and a bio-hazard. 

Ensure you are wearing surgical gloves when working with probes and cassettes.

BiohazardWhen cassettes are not in place on the analyser, ALWAYS PUT A COVER GUARD OVER THE PROBE.

Before putting away for storage always DECONTAMINATE the probe and clean the capillary.

Instructions:

Remove the cassette if necessary (see Cassette removal instructions).

Soak the cassette in non-hypochlorite based disinfectant for the appropriate time (see the cleaning instruction supplied by the cleaning agent manufacturer).

Place the sample tube containing 10% Tween in a suitable rack without its cap.

Cassette components

The Syringe with non-return valve and Benson adaptor.

Screw the syringe adapter to the capillary connector at the back of the blocked cassette.

 

Wash

  • Place the probe and cassette into the tube containing 10% Tween with the syringe facing you.

  • Pull on the syringe until a small volume of Tween solution can be seen in the syringe.

  • Leave with Tween inside the capillary for ten minutes.

  • Remove the probe and cassette from the tube, and force out the Tween solution into a waste sink.

  • Move the syringe back and forth, drawing air through the cassette to remove water droplets and moisture.

  • Repeat the above operation using distilled or de-ionised water.

  • Repeat again in 2nd tube of distilled or de-ionised water.

  • Remove the probe from the water, and move the syringe back and forth, drawing air through the cassette to remove water droplets and moisture.

  • Replace the guard on the probe.

  • Replace the complete cassette in the box provided for storage.
